Starting a Video Call from Chat

You can launch a video or audio call directly from the Messages panel — no need to navigate away or use a separate link. This is ideal for spontaneous check-ins or when a text conversation needs to become a live session.

How to Start a Call

  1. Open a conversation with a client in the Messages panel
  2. Click the video call or phone call icon in the top right of the chat window
  3. The call window will open and the client will receive an incoming call notification

What the Client Sees

When you initiate a call, the client receives an incoming call alert in their browser or portal — a prompt with options to Accept or Decline. If they accept, the call window opens on both sides.

Both you and the client need to grant microphone (and camera for video) access in your browser when prompted. This is a one-time browser permission.

Call Window

Once connected, the call opens in a separate window so you can continue seeing the chat or other parts of the dashboard while on the call. The call window includes:

  • Camera toggle — Turn your video on/off
  • Microphone toggle — Mute/unmute
  • End call button

After the Call

Once the call ends, you’ll be returned to the messaging view. You can continue the text conversation normally.

If you have scheduled video call sessions with clients, use the Calendar to book them in advance and send proper invitations. The quick call from Messages is best for unscheduled, impromptu sessions.
