Tasks in the Client Portal

If you have Tasks enabled for the Client Portal, clients see a Tasks tab where they can view homework you’ve assigned and create their own to-dos.

To enable Tasks for clients, go to Settings → General → Client Portal → Features → Tasks.


What Clients See

In their Tasks tab, clients can see:

  • Tasks you’ve assigned to them — created from their profile in your dashboard
  • Tasks they’ve created themselves

All tasks are organized into To-Do and Completed lists.


Completing Tasks

Clients mark a task as done by checking the checkbox next to it. The task moves to Completed automatically.

They can also move it back to To-Do by unchecking it.


Client-Created Tasks

Clients can add their own to-dos, goals, or reminders — anything that helps them stay on track between sessions. These appear in the shared task list and are visible to both the client and you.


Best Practices

Use tasks for between-session engagement:

  • Daily journal prompts
  • Breathing exercises or mindfulness practice
  • Reading or research
  • Goal check-ins

Keep task names short and actionable. Clients are more likely to complete clear, achievable tasks.
